Der Chicagoer Bassklarinettist Jason Stein gastierte zum ersten Mal mit dem Trio Locksmith Isidore 2008 beim Jazzkeller 69 und es gab ein Zusammentreffen mit Rudi Mahall. Jetzt ist er mit dem Trio Hearts And Minds wieder da. Die Gruppe webt verschiedene Einflüsse aus Jazz, Rock und Noise zu einem intensiven und einzigartigen Teppich zeitgenössischer Komposition und Improvisation zusammen.
Hearts and Minds features three integral musicians from the Chicago music universe; Jason Stein on bass clarinet, Paul Giallorenzo on synthesizer and electric piano, and Frank Rosaly on drums and electronics. The trio is on tour in Europe celebrating their eponymous debut release on the exceptional new label from Austin Texas, Astral Spirits. The band has been called a „bastard organ trio“, weaving together various influences from jazz, rock, and noise into an intense, singular expression of contemporary composition and improvisation.
