Originally from Washington, D.C., Ben Abarbanel-Wolff (b. 1974) started playing the piano at age four and the saxophone at age ten. He earned both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Jazz and Improvisation. He has studied with Reggie Workman, Charlie Persip, Roscoe Mitchell, Charles Gayle, Rob Brown and Ellery Eskelin. He also studied extensively with the master drummer and healer Milford Graves and the pianist Matthew Shipp. He recorded on the Knitting Factory label with the Detroit band Larval. Ben moved to Berlin in July 2001. Besides leading his own group, Ben is a member of the Sirone Quartet.

Antonis Anissegos wurde in 1970 in Stuttgart mit griechischer Staatsbürgerschaft geboren. Er studierte Klavier in Thessaloniki (Klavierdiplom 1991) und Komposition in Budapest, Wien, Köln (Kompositionsdiploma 1997) und in Berlin (Meisterschülerexamen 2002) Als Pianist ist er in zahlreichen Städten Europas aufgetreten sowie als klassischer Pianist als auch als Improvisator. Seine Kompositionen wurden u.a. vom Ensemble Modern, Staatlichen Orchester Thessaloniki, Farbenorchester Athen aufgeführt. Er erhielt den 1. Preis beim Neuköllner Opernwettbewerb für Komponisten, mit 15 Aufführungen seine Kammeroper Hundeherz. Zur Zeit leitet er seine Band Amoebas.

Derek Shirley was born in Ottowa, Canada in 1975. He studied music at McGill University in Montreal (1994-99) where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree. In the winter of 2000, he was an artist in residence at the Banff Centre for the Arts. He also studied in New York City with Larry Grenadier and Mark Dresser. Based in Montreal for the past seven years, Derek has played and toured extensively throughout Canada as a freelance bassist, and as a member of Mazik Klezmer Band and Zebradonk. He has performed with Don Thompson, Ingrid and Christine Jensen, Kenny Wheeler, Pierre Tanguay, and the Woodchoppers Association. Derek now resides in Berlin, where he is active on the improvised and modern music scenes.

Eric Schaefer (b. 1976) studied classical percussion , vibraphone, marimbaphone and kettledrum with Christoph Caskl (drummer in the ensemble of Karlheinz Stockhausen). In 1990 he won the first price at 'Jugend musiziert' ('young musicans') and became a member of the 'Bundes-jugendorchester'. Eric has lived in Berlin since 1997 and studied Jazz- percussion with Jerry Granelli and David Friedman. As a member of several percussion ensembles and classical orchestras he was guest in many countries; at numerous orchestra performances he acted as a solo artist. His artistic and compositional activities reach from contemporary classical music to modern jazz. Eric Schaefer is one of the most sought-after drummers on the Berlin scene.
